This week I have been teaching about the Life Cycle of a Frog. To make it a sensory experience I created a small world pond using plastic frogs, lily pads made out of thin foam(a bit like this one ...)
I got my frog life cycle from http://www.insectlore-europe.com/ They are a fantastic company - brilliant for caterpillars to have in your classroom!
To create some sensory frog spawn I used tapioca. The recipe I used was as follows ...
1 cup of tapioca pearls
1 cup of cold water
Place tapioca pearls in water and leave to soak overnight.
Once all the water has been absorbed, place in a pan full of water. Allow the mixture to boil for around 20 minutes until the tapioca has all swollen up. Rinse if too sticky.
The children were really interested in this Life Cycle so we also made a touchy feely version like this one ...
